And Wilt “wasn’t very strong”

This kid at work trying to tell me Giannis is better than PRIME Shaq…

Key word:

kid

Anyhow, one could argue that 24 years old Giannis is better than 24 years old Shaq was.
We’ll see how his career develops.

It’s a good argument, but Giannis needs a ring. At least one.

Does he know your talking about Shaquille O’Neal ? Put Shaq on 1 team with 4 scrubs , then put Giannis on a team with 4 scrubs , I love Giannis but I’m taking Diesel

You can’t argue prime Shaq vs prime Giannis when we don’t even know if we’ve seen prime Giannis yet.

Whoever said this clearly didn’t watch Shaq play

He won mvp, I’d call that prime. Unless he starts averaging like 40

Put Shaq in this era…going up against Jaren Jackson, WCS, Serge Ibaka lol

Giannis can improve so much on the offensive end. Playmaking as well even though that had come along way.

Until it is clear he had reached his peak I don’t think this version on Giannis can be considered in his prime.

Prime Shaq no doubt but if Giannis got a consistent 3 he’d be able to close the gap some

I was actually alive and actively watching NBA basketball when Shaq entered the league… in Shaq’s rookie season, there was literally only one player that could contain him: Hakeem.

Let that sink in. Only Hakeem could stop Shaq in his ROOKIE season.

First of all, we haven’t seen Giannis’ prime yet. He’s been in the league for 7 years and every year he’s getting better. Including this season, coming off an MVP year.

Secondly, how can you compare Giannis and Shaq? Totally different players. Like, there’s literally no comparing point, besides the monster dunks and post dominance. Their style of play couldn’t be any more different.

Third and last, and as much as i adore Giannis (just check my profile pic) it’s kinda disrespectful to Shaq to actually compare him to Giannis, at least at this point of Giannis’ career. As far as big men go, Shaq can only be compared with 4-5 other players in the history of the game (as far as greatness goes, not style of play).

For arguments sake let’s assume “prime” giannis is last years MVP giannis because that’s what he was referring too. No need for the “what if giannis isn’t in his prime” bc we know giannis is still getting better of course

Call me when he starts winning rings.

Can’t compare them at all. Both are/were freaks of nature but in completely different ways. What Giannis has done over the past 2 years is otherworldly and if he can keep it up he’s got a case to become one of the all time greats. He has to win at least one ring and preferably a couple of rings to be compared to Shaq and the likes though. Remember that The Diesel has 4 rings…

That’s not a completely legit argument though. Shaq didn’t win any rings in Orlando, despite his dominance (a kinda similar situation with these Bucks). The rings argument has some ground, but it shouldn’t be really high on the list. Shaq did win rings, but he played with (arguably in my opinion) 2 of the top3 SGs of all time.

Prime Shaq even with no jumper or free throw was literally unstoppable in the playoffs.

We’ve seen playoff Giannis and he ain’t playoff Shaq…not yet at least.

Giannis has a long way to go. Not sure Milwaukee is the answer though. They just gave Middleton 200 million.

Its not an argument at all. I’m just not even entertaining the thought of him being close to Shaq until he dominates multiple Finals like Shaq did. Hes 24 even he would say slow down.

Prime Shaq was the most feared NBA player maybe ever. Giannis has to show that his game can win chips.

All the top guys did it. Giannis has to as well.
