Been playing basketball for a while now but been in a big slump. working on my jumper everyday with form shots/middys/threes but seem to not be hitting.

Let the game come to you.

Make sure your practicing with good habits. Good set up. Same approach try to minimize changing your set up and release from shot to shot

You want a base to go from that you can rely on. From there you can tweak. Dunno if that helps

Turn your legs to the side a little bit. For example watch how kd shoots. Turn them to the left of you’re right handed or vice versa. It opens up your shoulder and allows for complete fluid motion. You want the ball to be at your eyebrow when you raise it and then hold your follow through. Just breathe and be confident. After you do this over and over it’s muscle memory. Can literally be done with your eyes closed. You got it

my jumper is similar to klay, as i have 10 toes to the basket. would the slight tilt help in this case?

If you prefer having it lined up then that’s alright. When I switched to having my body slightly turned it made a world of difference for me. Increased my range back to half court. Basically you just want it to feel fluid. If yours feels completely fluid and not mechanical at all and still has a nice 90 degree form then it’s all good you’ll shoot through it

I love free throws my shooting stroke from the line is so consistent and I splash like 90% FT

how’s ur finger and hand positioning on the ball? feel like this is something that messes me up

Shooting slump? Get under the basket and do the mikan drill, left and right hand and work your way out to close and mid range, and the 3ball last if you’re shooting well

Just one hand in the middle and the other on the side. Nothing much to elaborate on there. Follow through is really big though. I prefer my pointer finger to be my lead finger in the follow through but some prefer middle

Half if it is seeing the ball go through the hoop, so I advise the mikan drill 100% and practice some.free throws, I know sounds boring but those free throws will help you convert all that into muscle memory and it’s a realistic shot and it should be your base shot, 15.feet

Stop overthinking it. Throw the ball with backspin, run and catch/shoot like you’re coming off a screen - You barely have time to think about the release.

Elbow to elbow drill is better than free throws. Just shoot hundreds of shots at each elbow and also from the same range near the baseline. Don’t worry about threes just shoot hundreds of those for a week or 2 and then you’ll get buttery touch and the 3s will be wet

Focus on getting yourself in rhythm and getting yourself hot. Then you’ll be making them without even thinking. Your mind will be thinking about other things and you’ll be making shots at the same time. It’ll be easy

Also practice any kind of shot by yourself, even if it’s some shot no one thinks you can hit but you’ve practiced it and feel confident, you can take almost take that shot under duress. Floaters, runners, bank shots, reverse layups, you name it, if you practice it, you can do it in game.

Hell do the mikan drill and do the reverse mikan drill, helped me out a ton.

It’s easy to get into a slump when you’re trying to improve form cause you tend to focus on the form and it becomes mechanical which is good but a good jump shot comes off smoothly and the transition movement should be smooth. When you’re practicing you’re probably thinking of where the ball should be at certain points of your jump and etc. which is good to keep in mind but that tends to make players a lil clunky. Just exhale and try to release the tensions in your shoulders and back and just let her fly however feels best for you. Remember to loosen up and they’ll start droppin!
