Joker Film

For starters in just wanna say please don’t spoil this film for others. This film was a really question mark for me when it was first revealed. But after seeing the first few trailers and the film it self I gotta say this is the pinnacle of comic book films. It’s a very deep film that people should watch but I will say it may not be for everyone. From beginning to end it’s an amazing film and probably will take years for people to truly understand the complexity of it as it’s got a lot goin on. I recommend this film to everyone and to come into it with a open mind it’s not really a 2019 movie I guess I can say. I very much enjoyed it and Phenoix might be my 2nd favorite iteration of the joker almost the first just due to the way he really poored everything into his performance

Without spoiling anything, is Joker talking to some AI in his earpiece that leads him to go crazy?

I was planning on seeing it, thanks for keeping me hyped

I have a hard time believing the guy that made the hangover movies made something so complex that it’s going to take years for some people to understand. Philips isn’t exactly Christopher Nolan.

That said I can’t wait to watch this in a couple hours. Phoenix is always incredible

I get the skepticism trust me I was there but for Phoenix’s performance it’s worth the price of admission

What are you trying to say it isn’t a 2019 movie @Broly ?

Not necessarily high action it’s very Scorsese like I’ve seen some of his films and this definitely feels like a Scorsese film. I didn’t get the comparisons at first but after some thought yeah I reminded me a lot of Taxi Driver

I’ve read that was his aim.

I guess he’s taking the shoot for the moon and maybe land by the stars approach

I’ll say he took his shot and in my opinion it worked. Also it’s pretty great that the film doesn’t feel like a comic book film. I think you’ll enjoy it

would you say his performance was award worthy?

Honestly I’d say yeah but me saying that doesn’t mean much. I’d say watch the film and be the judge but obviously not compare him to other iterations of the joker as they are different from one another. But I’d definitely say Phoenix is probably gonna win an award for his performance

T-5 hours to go!

I have 2 differing opinions on this movie.

First. The hype is real on Phoenix. This is a masterclass performance and he deserves every award nomination he will undoubtedly get.

Second. Take away the Phoenix performance and I think the movie was pretty mediocre. Not terrible by any means but more good than great. It’s not dark enough to really disturb you. It’s not fresh enough to shock you. And it’s not clever enough to really keep you thinking after the credits roll though it does have some success with all 3 to a degree. It doesn’t really find its footing until the third act. There’s no message in this movie that hasn’t been told before in other, better films. Philips definitely tried to take a chip off of Scorsese but he honestly can’t hold a candle to him which is okay, there are few, and I mean can count on one hand few, that can.

Overall I’d say watching Phoenix is alone worth the ticket price and he managed to lift the movie to the “good” level almost single handedly but this isn’t a movie I left the theater telling myself “I can’t wait to watch that again”

Bare in mind with this review that I am a much bigger movie buff than the average person though so take that how you want.

Taxi Driver is on Netflix now. For anyone who hasn’t seen it I HIGHLY recommend it. It’s one of those films that is a must see for anyone imo.

I have seen the pre-premiere and the movie is excellent, though I have to agree its not a masterpiece but its close. Joaquin Phoenix gave an oscar worthy performance and his take on the Joker is really interesting. We got to see a origin story of the Joker which makes you feel sorry for him, but thanks to Phoenix you never sympathies for him, instead you feel a sense of dread and fear watching him on screen as he slowly descends into madness. However, what I found lacking in the movie is an utter lack of at least one decent person in the movie. Instead, everybody is either an asshole, or at the least utterly uninterested in others, so basically you can see the Joker doing all those bad things, but in the end you dont really feel sorry for anyone involved, nor do you feel emphaty for the citizens of Gotham.

I’ve seen this quote for years and its always bugged the shit outta me. The stars are SIGNIFICANTLY further away then how close our moon is lol…

…Unless I’m the one who doesn’t understand it’s intended meaning.
