How everyone feel about Ben Simmons

Do you guys think he’s still good? I heard he might go to the blazers for CJ but the 76ers turned that down. With all the issues surrounding him I figured they’d jump at the chance. Maybe he’s still good but he hates it there so much that he sabotaged himself for a quicker release last season. Who would you be willing to trade for him, I wouldn’t give dame up but I’d risk trading Schroder. They probably would reject that too. I picked a pg but out of any position, any team.

Ben who? Name no longer rings any bells

You know, the guy who can shoot 3s on 2k.

I am not sure why anyone would take a player who is not mentally tough enough to handle any justified criticism. However, hope the sixers do not give him away for nothing. It is a shame because if he had the drive you see with Jordon, Lebron, Bird, Butler, etc…, he could have been one of the best ever.

I think they’d try to move McCollum for Ben. They’d need fame and Ben together and reconstruct the team

Bird just ate hot dogs and drank beer for his practices. Probably the best way to play.

But he used to take 1000 free throws each day growing up. He also was part of the greatest McDonalds ad with Jordon of all time.

Naw man he worked hard. I’m poking fun at a story he has of the whole team eating hot dogs and him telling his opponent that he was gonna wear them out because he ate hot dogs.

It’s weird to me to rebuild with a player that’s almost 32 years old…, I think they’re better off getting young talent rather than trying to race against an extremely tight window

I think the spurs would be a great fit for Ben Simmons. Pop would tell him army stories and tell him to toughen up, while simultaneously make him
feel loved. They could improve his floater, extend it to past the free throw line where a guy his size should easily be able to float from, and boom great value.

Problem is sixers seem to want to get maximum value for a guy they devalued themselves.

I don’t see him ever recovering from this. He’s always been an entitled teenager. The way he and his people have handled this have been abysmal.

I thought your photo was the Undertaker till I looked closer. Then I read the name.
That wld be a great coach to better him. A floater like that wld come in handy. He still needs to improve his 3 ball but really I think he’ll work on it and accomplish that.
Yeah they did allow his value to be ran into the dirt, that is the team and himself. They should have tried to keep it all in house or at least as much as possible. I mean if Ben stayed away from media and told them there was no changing his mind then they could have made a pretty good deal. Now his value is down and we don’t truely know how he will do but they want dame or nothing.
Dame’s top 5 pg maybe even top 3. Ben is below 30 but might be able to get a 20 spot with faith.

I think he’ll recover myself…I hope. His maturity is a huge issue. I wish they would give us the full story on this. Is this truely a mental thing of depression or is he just claiming mental because claiming back problems didn’t work?. I really don’t understand how you can make money like that playing a sport you love and be depressed but idk the man. It has to be mental, he just can’t handle public opinion on his game.

I don’t have any issues with him not wanting to play for Philly. An unwritten sports rule is that criticism is for the locker room. Yes he blew it in the playoffs but so what, you don’t throw a teammate under the bus to the press. Bron lost one of best Finals games of all time because JR forgot the score and he never trashed him in the media. Kobe airballed the Lakers out of a playoff series, none of his teammates publicly blamed him. Steph never blamed Draymond for getting suspended, Dray never blamed Steph for being a liability on defense. Certain shit you just don’t do and I wouldn’t play for guys that broke that code either.

As far as playing, I think he belongs on some weird experimental squad something like Houston “micro-ball”. Him playing more PF and even some 5 against smaller lineups would be really interesting. Running inverted P&R, switching, etc.

As far as the critique of his game, it’s simple. He has to become more aggressive. Idc if he never learns to shoot league average, but in a day where even Dwight Howard is taking threes, you can’t be scared to shoot them period. If he doesn’t change that then nothing I said matters because he’ll be coming off the bench as a defensive role player or putting up empty triple doubles for the Guangdong Tigers.

Tbh I thought they should’ve started rebuilding by now. The blazers seem very anti-tank but they’re getting a new gm so that could change.

Me neither but really bad timing, him resigning and all. I forgot Embiid did that and in house makes everything better. Not that he couldn’t say the exact things to his face but telling the media was a mistake. Bet Embiid will suffer because they may not get a good trade for him, not what they want.

I got to take part of that back because team owners paid the man super max but he’s not invested. Philly is out the loop cause of downed value. I really don’t know how to make this situation fair for both sides but it should be done.

NBA teams take a risk by signing a player to a contract. It’s a gamble. You can pay a player what you think he’s worth at that moment or you can pay him based on what you think he may become. They weren’t required to offer him the max, but they were scared someone else would. They bet on Ben becoming a better shooter but all the signs that he never would were always there. His form is awful and he insists on shooting with his left even though there is plenty footage of him looking better shooting with his right.
