Interesting podcast from The Athletic got me thinking. How many of these guys would you take ahead of Giannis if you’re going into a playoff series? And how does that affect his ranking overall as a player in this league?

No bias I think it’s arguable Jokic has passed Giannis in player rankings when you look at their playoff success combined with current production.

I love Jokic, but no. This is the first time in Jokic’s career that he is in serious MVP consideration. Giannis is a 2x MVP and DPOY.

The fact that you even have to stop and consider so many names now is the point of the thread.

Everyone has been so in love with Giannis, (rightfully so, he’s been insanely dominant) over the last couple years and now it’s “would I really take him ahead of Jokic, AD or Steph in a playoff series?”

Id take Kyrie in a playoffs series over everyone on the list except Bron, KD and AD.

That doesnt mean hes a top 5 player but I know I dont have to worry about him in the playoffs.

Its a hard question because obviously none of us are GMs but If im “taking” Giannis I have the team around him to succeed.

Yes his game still needs work but a smarter coach would’ve won a ring with Giannis by now.
