Best PG 6'5" or less to guard Giannis, Simmons, Magic, etc?

Curious who you think has handle the big guys the best.

Or is the only way to deal with this to fight fire with fire? If so, who’s the cheapest card to get the job done without giving up too much on offense?

walt frazier, big o, or gary payton

I’d say Gary Payton or big o.

Payton for sure, Kidd, Walt Oscar all hold there own too

Why use a PG 6’5 or less to guard Giannis when you can use your power forward?

I noticed Walt doesn’t have HOF Post Move Lockdown which is a bummer. It kind of looks like the best ‘budget’ option to deal with these guys is to grab a bigger PG like Glitched Unseld or OOP Draymond. They have the defensive badges you need.

@Fra44 because then your 6’4" PG has to cover their SG who is probably 6’10", or their SF who is 6’11", so on and so forth.

Which is why it’s like… why even run these 6’3", 6’4" PG’s at all…

This is a fear that almost everyone has but it’s not rational.

Have you every played someone who uses every player on their team equally? I haven’t, 99% uses 1,2 players, three at max, and the rest are there for catch and shoot. Hell, there’s people using Giannis as a 3&D.

Second, have you ever played someone relentlessly attacking your small guard? I haven’t the whole year. And I ran Wade, Curry, Caldwell, Edwards now 6’0 David Wesley all year. I have never had a PG taller than 6’5 and never had a problem at all.

If they relentlessly go at your guard try to bait them if they post up, and shoot them off their strategy when you have the ball.
Works every time for me

Dennis Johnson is pretty good at guarding big pgs

If that Tony Allen from the all time sims could play point guard, he would be a demon. The cpu Allen shut down my Glitched Nowitzki more often than not when I tried to post him up

I’m not sure if anybody knows this but Evo’d DRose (duo with Butler) has around 56 HoF badges and 6 or 7 gold ones.

I’ve been running Goat Curry and Evo Rose off the bench, both guys are 6’3. Both can be deadly on both ends of the floor.

Last game I had a guy messaging me that I was lucky with the equalizer because my Rose blocked Evo’d Simmons like 4 times while driving to the basket for a dunk.

Rose is crazy good and with HoF Floor Gen./Defensive leader he’s basically a GOAT level card with all the stats 99 apart from rebounding/post game.

The only drawback is that you have to keep Butler as SG too. And even though Butler is amazing, I would like his shot to be a liiiiitle bit faster.

With EVO and duo he still doesn’t get HOF Rim Protector (at all) and only has 69 block, how does that even work lol

I have no idea but he gets the craziest blocking animations a 6’3 pg could ever get. Trampoline lvl 99.

I had GOAT Steph snatch block once or twice :joy: but ya know he’s got the attributes and badges to be able to do that. Just not the height :skull:

No one can play that style now , you can’t move the ball around the court this year trying to feast a mismatch !
No one do it on comp level , they have their offense with the player they like ( one or two max ) ,
You really need to guard space and not man , you can cut easily a lot of lanes and fight mismatch’s with doubles , Baits , clamps , intimidator , pogo ( and I’m the ultimate ass defender on my team )
You can use one short guy for sure , your defense can inferior just for that fact of the lanes and fight run around.
But no one here play comp and great my team tourneys to care about that so much
